This editor box is a preview of the code I write in the tutorial, please use the link above to open your own editor!
The object I have chosen to discuss is the web developer coding language HTML. I use a text editor to assemble my HTML code and I run the .html file I create, on a browser. In order to explain how to use HTML, I have recorded a video tutorial using OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) and uploaded it to a website along with an embedded text editor.
The pedagogical function of video recording is to help visual learners follow along in a tutorial about the basics of HTML. I record myself coding and explaining each step I take. I have also added in a webcam of myself lecturing to give off a sort of classroom feel. Video tutorials are an excellent source of knowledge as the students can pause the recordings at any time and practice the material. They can also view it repeatedly whenever it suits them.
HTML is a useful tool to know when creating webpages and would be very beneficial for anyone who needs to create an online presence. I believe I have successfully given a simple introduction to the tool and given clear steps on how to implement it, therefore educating the student watching my tutorial.
There is a way to improve this video tutorial. My preview doesn’t allow users to edit the code directly while watching the video. I could purchase a subscription for that feature so that users could code while watching the video which would help with a deeper understanding of the information.
